The Way Of The Samurai

Bushido (Japanese for "way of the warrior"), is an ethical code of conduct, developed between the 11th to 14th centuries. Bushido is defined as a unique philosophy (ronri) that spread through the warrior class from the Muromachi (chusei) period. There 7 key virtues to the code, listed below:

The Seven Virtues

- Gi - Rectitude (Justice and Morality)
- Yu - Courage
- Jin - Benevolence
- Rei - Respect
- Makoto - Honesty
- Meiyo - Honor, Glory
- Chugi - Loyalty

Others that are sometimes added to these:

* Chu - Preservation of ethics
* Ko - Respect for one's elders/parents
* Chi - Wisdom
* Shin - Honesty
* Tei - Care for the aged

I respect these codes and try to live them everyday. I believe I have the spirit of a samurai and not because I own a few swords. I'm a warrior at heart... always have been, always will be! ^_-
