- Chapter 26: The Smallest Village! -

By early dawn, our heroes travels from the Inn of Lion's Hold. Edeline is eager to move on, though the rest of the group are still a little sleepy, so earlier in the morning. "The Innkeeper was nice." yawns Faeda, "I didn't think he would give us a place to stay, for free." "Yep," yawns General Lu, "He's an old friend of mine. ...And he kinda owes me." "Ooh," smiles Adie, interested, "Did you saved his life?"

General Lu: "No... He lost in a card game. He owes me two-hundred gold." (;^_^)
Adie: "Oh..." (>_>)
Faeda: (;^_^)
Oar: (-_-)
Edeline: "Come on, slowpokes! Pick up the pace! We have an herb to find!" (^o^)
General Lu: "Well, someone is more cheerier today." (^_^)
Adie: "That's a good sign." (^_^)
Vi: "I admit, I was worried for Edeline, for a while there." (;^_^)
Oar: "Oddly enough... so was I." (-_-)
Adie: (o_o)
Faeda: (o_o)
Vi: (o_o)
General Lu: (o_O)

"What?" frowns Oar, "Is it really so weird for me to care about someone?" "Yes." nods Vi. Faeda laughs nervously and Adie blushes. "Hey," he frowns, "I'm not completely heartless, you know." "Who could tell?" shrugs Vi. "Aw, come on." waves Adie, "I think it's a good thing that Oar is finally showing his feelings. Stop picking on him, okay?" "I wasn't teasing." says Vi, "It's just shocking, that's all." Oar sulks. Edeline pulls back with the group, "What's going on?"
"Oh, nothing." waves General Lu, nervously, "We're just talking about things and... things... and-" "Whatever." frowns Edeline, "Let's move it, guys! Geez, you're moving like slugs today!" She rides up ahead, once again. "Hmm." says Oar, "For a grand General, you sure are a lousy liar." "Yeah," laughs Lu, "I never was any good at lying. Guess I don't have it in me." "CATCH UP!" screams Edeline. Everyone hurries to catch up at once.

General Lu: "You know, Edeline... I'm sure we have plenty of time. No need to rush, in break-neck speeds." (;^_^)
Faeda: "Yeah... Everything will be fine. I can feel it!" (^_^)
Adie: "So stop being SO scary!" (;_;)
Vi: "Besides... we're still a little sleepy." (;^_^)
Oar: "Give us time to wake up?" (-_-)
Edeline: "Hmm... I would kinda expect the others to complain about the hour... But General Lu, you should be use to being alert at any hour. I'm pretty sure wars aren't scheduled!" (o_O)
General Lu: "That's true. But normally, I wouldn't have to be so alert, after winning a huge battle." (-_-)
Edeline: "O-Oh... right..." (*^_^*)
General Lu: "No... the protocol would be, lots of rest and relaxation for me an my troops, after every won battle. I usually sleep for three or more days." (^_-)

Edeline looks away, ashamed. "I'm sorry, General Lu." she says. "What?" he asks, confused at first, "No-no... I didn't mean it like that. Of course, I'm happy to break protocol and help your friend! ...But... could you please calm down a little and give us a little slack?" Faeda and Adie nod in agreement. "Yeah." blushes Edeline. "Hey," waves General Lu, "Don't worry. If anyone will find that herb, it's bound to be us! A Legendary General and a powerful Seer..." Faeda smiles. "An energetic Mage," he continues, "A tough and devoted Koian, a wise and beautiful Bard, and a... a... um..." He looks over Oar, confused. "Archer?" Lu guessed. Oar stays silent.
"Um..." sighs Adie, "He won't tell us." "That's because I don't have a class." shrugs Oar. "Well," waves General Lu, "You definitely have some unique skills. Too powerful for a mere Archer." Oar doesn't respond to the compliment. "Anyhoo..." waves the General, "I'm pretty sure we'll find the herb... if it's to be found, that is." "It is." nods Faeda, "I know it." "Well," shrugs General, "If the seer is sure, so am I." They ride on, arriving in the small town of Stagmoon, by early afternoon.
Only... this town was very small in scale, literally! There are farris wheels in the towns amusement park, hundreds of houses, grand parks, vegetable fields, and a small lake. But our heroes towers over everything, like giants! Stagmoon is a village of elves!

Adie: "Ah..." (o_o)
Edeline: "Uh-oh... Adie?" (o_O)
Adie: "Uh..." (>_>)
Faeda: "It's okay, Adie." (;^_^)
Adie: "Um..." (<_<)
Vi: "Now, try to relax..." (^_^)
Adie: "Oh..." (>_<)
Oar: "Try to think of happy things." (-_-)
General Lu: "Huh? What's going on?" (o_O)
Edeline: "Adie... don't freak o-" (>_>)
Adie: "AIEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!" (@_@)
Faeda: "Too late!" (;^_^)

Adie leaps into Oar's arms, nearly knocking them both to the ground. "Arg!" he growls, "What's gotten into you?!" "They're EVERYWHERE!" she shrieks, "Oh no! There aren't any on me, is there?!" She frantically brushes her clothes, making it harder for Oar to keep his balance, with her in his arms. "Cut that out!" he shouts. General Lu stares, trying to figure out what's going on. "Adie," explains Edeline, "Is afraid of Elves." Vi and Faeda both nod.
"Hmm," says the General, "Then why did she agree to travel to a village full of them?" "I didn't know!!!" she shrieks. "I don't think any of us knew." shrugs Vi. "Well..." frowns General Lu, "I knew. But I thought you guys knew." "No!" yells Adie, "We didn't know, you know?!" "This is confusing." frowns Faeda, rubbing her head. "Why didn't you mention it?!" shouts Adie. "Sorry," shrugs Lu, "I didn't think it was a big deal. If I knew, you didn't know, then I would have told you what I knew." "Everyone," frowns Oar, "Stop saying the words 'knew' and 'know', now." Vi and Faeda giggle.

Edeline: "Well, in this case, we can't stay long." (;^_^)
Adie: (o_o)
Faeda: "Yeah... Let's just get the herb quickly and be on our way." (^_-)
Adie: "Eeek!" (o_o)
Oar: *cough* "Adie... that's... my... neck..." (>_<)
General Lu: "Fair enough. I guess we should ask the locals first. Or maybe go straight to the mayor?" (o_O)
Adie: "!!!!" (o_o)
Oar: *gag* "Adie..." (>_<)
Vi: "Yes, the mayor, may know more than anyone else." (^_^)
Adie: "Ah-hee-hee-hee!" (@_@)
Oar: *gag* "I... CAN'T... BREATH!" (>_<)
???: "Excuse me?" (o_O)

Everyone turns to face a familiar small person. It's Assistant Henry, from Fort Quibble! "Hi there!" smiles Faeda. "Hello." he nods, then looks nervous, "Um, she's choking your friend, there." "Huh?" they ask, then turn to their left to see a very frighten Adie, holding onto the neck of a very red Oar. "Adie!" yells Edeline, "Let go of Oar!!!" But Adie is too petrified to move. Edeline marches over and pry the girls fingers from around Oar's neck. He takes a deep breath and screams, "YOU TRIED TO STRANGLE ME!!!"
"Eh, heh." smiles Faeda, embarrassed with the whole scene, "What brings you here, Assistant Henry?" "I live here." he shrugs, "But besides that, I overheard your conversation. Sorry, I wasn't trying to spy or anything." "Oh," blushes Vi, "So you heard everything? Um... Adie's a good girl, it's just her fears are a little-" "No," waves Henry, "I'm not talking about that! About the herb!" "Oh," says Edeline, leaning closer to Henry, "You know where the herb is?" "No." he answered, "But I do know someone who might!"
"That's great!" smiles Faeda. "Her name is Lily!" sighs Henry, "The most intelligent, wise, and beautiful -er- I mean..." He begins to blush. "I mean," he says, trying to move on, "She's an expert in herbs, rare or not, and she breeds all kinds in her greenhouse. If anyone can find a herb, it's her!" "Well," says Edeline, hopeful, "Where is she? We need to see her immediately!" "Follow me!" Henry smiles, "I was just on my way to her home."
They follow Henry, while being careful to not step on other elves and their houses. Adie is in Oar's arms, her face buried in his chest, whimpering. Oar grumbles to himself.

Henry: "You'll have to wait in her backyard, of course. You're too big to be invited in." (;^_^)
Faeda: "Yeah..." (;^_^)
Adie: (@_@)
Edeline: "Thanks for helping us out, Henry!" (^o^)
Henry: "Of course I would! Thanks to you guys and the others, Serenity may finally get rid of Zev! And that means a lot, to us elves! (^o^)
General Lu: "Yes... I remember. Zev was known to use elves for slaves, the last time he wreaked havoc." (-_-)
Henry: "Yes. Many elves were killed. And we fear that, if Zev starts another war, he may come after us in Stagmoon looking for slaves again." (-_-)
Faeda: "That's horrible!" (o_o)
Oar: (-_-)
Henry: "But since our victory on Quibble Coast, things are looking more in our favor! We'll defeat Zev, I'm sure we will!" (^o^)

Faeda and Edeline giggles, enjoying Henry's enthusiasm. They stop by a small wooden house and Henry points them towards the backyard. "You'll wait over there." he nods, "I'll talk to Lily and explain the situation. Oh, and try not to step on anything. Lily's garden is back there." "Okay." bows Edeline. They carefully head into the backyard and wait. After a while, the little backdoor opens, and two elves scamper out. Adie shrieks and grabs Oar's neck again! "Adie..." he gasps. Edeline sighs and begins to free Oar from Adie's grasp again.
"Hello." says a small voice. A very pretty elf, with long golden hair and striking blue eyes, smiles. "This is Lily." nods Henry, "Lily, these are the people I've told you about." "Hello, Lily." smiles Faeda, "Nice to meet you." "Yes." bows Edeline, "May we ask? Do you happen to know where to find a rare herb, that counteracts Arcane poison?"

General Lu: "Wow... she doesn't waste time, does she?" (;^_^)
Faeda: "That's our Edeline." (;^_^)
Lily: "Well... the name of the herb is called, 'Crelos Moon'." (^_^)
Edeline: "Ah! So you know where it is?" (^o^)
Lily: "No. It's too rare. Sorry." (-_-)
Adie: (o_o)
Faeda: (o_o)
Vi: (o_o)
Oar: (-_-)
Edeline: "But... but... it's important. My friend..." (o_o)
Adie: "What do you mean? You can't find the herb, ANYWHERE???" (o_o)

Lily looks away. "I'm sorry." she says, "I should have known... if you're looking, it must means someone is poisoned." "Who's poisoned?" asks Henry, confused. "My friend," says Edeline, "Galen. He's my best friend in the whole world. And... and he was poisoned, while fighting on Quibble Coast... he was trying to protect me. And now... without that herb, he's gonna die! It must exist! Faeda said..." Edeline's tears began to fall. "He told me to smile." she sniffs, "And I'm really trying to."
"There is something." says Lily, softly. "What?" asks Vi, eager, "Tell us." "I'd hate to get your hopes up," she sighs, "But there is a legend. On a night of a full moon, upon ye Mossy Point, if you pray with all of your heart, Crelos Moon will grow for you. Many have prayed on Mossy Point, nothing has ever happened." "It's worth a try." nods Faeda. "Yeah." says Adie, hopeful.

Oar: "It sounds like a long shot." (-_-)
Faeda: "We have to try." (^_^)
Lily: "There is a full moon tonight, too. If you leave Stagmoon now, you should reach Mossy Point, by midnight." (-_-)
General Lu: "What do you want to do, Edeline?" (>_>)
Edeline: "I told Galen, that his friends are fighting for him..." (-_-)
Adie: (o_o)
Edeline: "And he replied, 'make it an good fight'. So, I intend to. I'll keep trying, until it's not possible to try anymore." (-_-)
Oar: "Looks like we're going to Mossy Point." (-_-)

"I'll come along." nods Lily. "Huh?" frowns Henry, "Are you sure about that?" "Yes," she nods, "I will show them exactly where Mossy Point is and where to pray." "Thank you." bows Edeline. "Well," says Henry, "I'll come along too." "If we pray together," nods Faeda, "We may get our wish! I can feel it!"
Our heroes leave that afternoon, the elves riding with Edeline, heading for Mossy Point. By midnight, they come across a cliff, surrounded by different plants, trees, and brush. The dew-sprinkled glass sparkles, in silver moonlight. Edeline kneels in the cool grass, her eyes towards the overhanging moon, trying her best not to cry. Vi sings a song of mercy, Faeda holds onto her key, the elves both bow, and Adie bows bravely beside them. Oar and General Lu stand in the shadows, watching and waiting.

Oar: "There is a great chance that this will not work." (-_-)
General Lu: "I realize that. But we have to try." (>_>)
Oar: "Why must we try something, that's most likely useless?" (-_-)
General Lu: "Because it's our nature to fight, to survive. We'll do anything to stay alive and keep our loved ones alive. It's what makes us human." (-_-)
Oar: "Hmm..." (-_-)
General Lu: "And it's our spirit, that keeps us hoping and believing for the best. Look towards your friends. They are all doing what they can, trying to save a fallen friend, believing and hoping with all of their hearts that a miracle may occur. The possibility of one happening tonight is slim. But it's not all together impossible." (-_-)
Oar: "How can you be so sure, that it's not impossible?" (-_-)
General Lu: "Because I believe and I have faith. My spirit won't allow me to think otherwise." (^_-)
Oar: (-_-)
General Lu: "Have a little faith, Oar. Let's help your friends save Galen, tonight." (^_^)

General Lu kneels beside Edeline, praying too. "Useless sentiment." frowns Oar, watching them all. But deep down inside, he wanted to believe that everything would turn out okay. He wanted to believe that a miracle would happen, tonight. Oar sighs and kneels next to Faeda, opening his heart in a long prayer, silently.
"It's not working." sobs Edeline, after a while, "We tried. But, it didn't work." Faeda and Vi look towards the ground, Adie begins to cry, Oar looks away, General Lu sighs, and the elves look sadly to each other. "Edeline..." says Faeda, placing a hand on her shoulder, "I don't understand it. I know I felt it... I did think that everything was going to be alright. And..." "It's okay," sniffs Edeline, "You tried your best, Faeda. We all tried our best."

Oar: (-_-)
General Lu: "Edeline... we should head back home. You should spend your last days with..." (-_-)
Edeline: "I know..." (-_-)
Adie: (;_;)
Vi: (-_-)
Edeline: "Galen? We made it a good fight." (;_;)
Faeda: (;_;)
Oar: "We'll have to camp here, for the night. It's too late for
traveling. (-_-)

General Lu: "I agree." (-_-)

Faeda throws an arm around Edeline. Vi gasps, suddenly. "What is it?" asks Oar. Lily gasps too! "C-Crelos Moon!" yells Henry. A field of pink and white plants were magically growing, right in front of everyone's eyes! "I don't believe it!" says Oar, in awe. "Heh-heh!" laughs Adie, hugging Lily, "It worked! It worked!" "Whoo-hoo!" cheers General Lu, "Look at them grow!" "There's so many of them," gasps Edeline, out of breath with excitement, "We only need one!" "It's a miracle!" shouts Henry, hopping up and down. Vi and Faeda giggle, while spinning each other in circles.
"What do we do?" asks Edeline, looking around, "Which one do we take?" "Let's take as many as we can." nods General Lu, "We can cure Galen and anyone else who may fall victim to Zev's Arcane poison!" "Good idea!" smiles Adie, now carrying Lily on her shoulder. "I guess you've gotten over you fear." says Oar, feeling cheerful. "What fear?" grins Adie. Everyone helps to fill sacks full of the rare herb. After a while of collecting many herbs, our heroes camp at Mossy Point for that night. In the morning, they will head back to Scarletwood...
