- Chapter 34: It's All Relative! -

Hearing the uproar in town, our heroes rush outside, to find Galen standing before an armless Star. "What's going on?" gasps Faeda. "It's Star," growls Edeline, "And it looks like he's come for revenge." Galen temper rises, as he notices his town burning, and his people screaming in terror. "You've gone too far, this time!" he shouts. "Not really." shrugs Star, "I haven't killed anyone here yet, not like last time."

Galen: "What? 'Last time'?" (o_o)
Star: "Yes. I am not a stranger to this town! I was here, years ago, I believe you were nothing more than a child." (^_-)
Adie: (o_o)
Faeda: (o_o)
Edeline: (o_o)
Galen: "That's... not true..." (>_<)
Star: "Afraid so. I know I look young, that's because I'm above you filthy creatures. But I am in fact way older, but my memory is intact. I do remember killing your mother and father!" (^o^)
Galen: "YOU BASTARD!" W('O')W

Galen rushes towards Star, to Edeline's horror, trying to take down the powerful solider of Zev. Star plays with Galen, teleporting around him, taunting him. "Hey," laughs Star, "I haven't told you the worse of it, yet." "You will pay!" growls Galen, taking swings and only hitting air. "I highly doubt it." smiles Star, "Even with one arm, I am still above your strength, it's laughable." "Stand still and fight!" shrieks Galen. "Galen!" yells Edeline, jumping in to fight too. Star flings her into Oar and Vi, just as carelessly, as if she weighed nothing.
"Stay out of it, Koian." says Star, annoyed, "This is just between us men." Galen growls, his temper growing more. "Are you okay?" asks Faeda, worried, helping Edeline to her feet. Adie grabs Vi's hand. "Your friends are useless..." sighs Star, still teleporting to Galen's swings, "Wow, deja-vu! I've said something similar to your father, at one time." Galen swings with all his fury, falling to ground, tired. "Damn..." gasps Galen, "Zev... pawn!"
"Yes," nods Star, "I remember it well. I had told your father that his need for 'friends' and 'family' was useless. It's a weakness. I told him to join us, with Zev, to abandon his silly notions of 'love'! He wouldn't listen and became married to that horrible creature, known as your mother. And then he had a child! Well, I decided to stop by and punish him, for his ignorance." "Why?" gasps Galen, "Why? Did you kill them?! What did they do to you?! Why were you so intent on my father?!" "Hmph." frowns Star, "You still haven't figured it?"

Star: "He was one of us! Born of our blood, under the rule of Lord Zev!"
(-_-)

Edeline: (o_o)
Galen: "LIAR!!!" W('O')W
Star: "No, it's true, sadly. He left us and fell in love with your kind. Disgusting." (-_-)
Faeda: "So... you killed him... you killed Galen's parents!" (o_o)
Star: "Yes! And anyone who dared to oppose me! And there were many, for my brother had many friends in this muck." (;^_^)
Galen: "B-B-Brother?!" (o_o)
Star: "That's the good part! Yes, your father and I were brothers! It was best for me to kill him and everything he loved. So, that's what I did!" (^o^)
Adie: "Horrible!" (o_o)
Vi: "That's too much..." (>_<)
Star: "I would have killed Galen too, but the little brat was hidden and I had better things to do. He didn't matter, anyhow. I just wanted to free my brother from the madness and kill the witch that had put him there." (^_^)

Something deep inside snapped in Galen. He stood to his feet, a vacant look within his eyes, filled with deep fury. With speeds so fast, Star didn't have a chance to move or teleport, Galen grabbed the villain by the neck. "Galen!" gasps Edeline, but soon realized, this was no longer the Galen she knew. He slowly begins to crush Star's neck, in his hand, a twisted look of satisfaction on his face. "I know that look," Star thinks, his last breath slipping away, "It's Darren... my brother...!" "STOP!" a scream.
It's Faeda, pleading with Galen. "Stop!" she screams, "You're killing him!" "So what?" he says, "He didn't care, when he killed others... he didn't care when he killed my parents... why should I care about him?!" "This isn't you!" she pleads, "This isn't the real you, Galen!" Galen sighs, letting go of Star, dropping him to the ground. "Yes," he says, not looking at anyone, "It is. Deep down inside... there is real darkness in me. A side I hoped none of you would see. I know this... I knew it since I was a child! I want... to kill Star... I wished to do so, since that day! Edeline... she has got her ending with Sonya. Now, I'm gonna get mine!"
"No!" shrieks Faeda, held back by Vi and Oar. No one could stop Galen, when he was like this, and no one dared to either. They watched as Galen grabbed a hold of Star and brutally beat him. Star tried to fight back, but somehow seemed weaker, against the raging Galen. He flung Star into a brick building, as if Star weighted nothing, looming over the crumpled body of the fallen foe. "Have mercy." gasps Star. "Mercy?!" laughs Galen, almost madly, "Did you have mercy for my mother? My father? Your own brother?!"

Star: "No, I did not. Our kind do not know the meaning of the word, mercy." (-_-)
Galen: "Then how dare you ask for it?!" W('O')W
Star: "Yes, I have no right to." (-_-)
Faeda: "Galen! Just stop!" (o_o)
Adie: "You've won! Just let him be." (o_o)
Oar: "Don't do anything you'll regret!" (-_-)
Star: "If you're going to kill me, do so quick. For if I shall recover, I will take your life!" (-_-)
Faeda: "Wait!" (o_o)
Edeline: "Galen..." (-_-)
Galen: "PREPARE TO DIE!!!" W('O')W

Faeda and Vi looks away quickly, Adie buries her face in Oar's chest, Edeline watches as her best friend slips away. She remembers the words of General Lu in her mind, "The battlefield is no place for wild vengeance! You're not going to win, with so much emotion, you're going to get yourself killed!" And she felt as though she was watching her friend die, right before her eyes, but felt so helpless as to how to stop him. She begins to cry.
Galen steps onto the neck of Star, meaning to crush it, his eyes wild with vengeance! Star stares at him, without emotion, only feeling pity for himself. "How dare you feel sorry for yourself?!" roars Galen, "You have no right! You don't have the right to breath!" Even though they were cold, filled with self-pity, Star's eyes... they were the same almond eyes... Galen pulls back, breaking out of his haze. "Wait..." says Galen, covering his face with a shaky hand, "What the hell am I doing?!"

Edeline: "Galen..." (;_;)
Galen: "What was that? 'You don't have the right to breath'?" (>_>)
Adie: "Galen?" (o_O)
Galen: "What kind of crap was that...?" (-_-)
Oar: (-_-)
Galen: "What am I doing?" (o_o)
Star: "You were going to kill me, remember?" (-_-)
Galen: "Yeah... but why?!" (o_o)
Faeda: (O_o)
Vi: "Did Galen lose it?" (o_o)
Oar: "I'd say he lost it both ways. First he wants to kill the guy and then he forgets why." (;-_-)
Edeline: "Galen..." (;_;)

"No," explains Galen, "It those eyes. You and I have the same eyes, Star. My father, your brother, had the same eyes too. I remember, growing up, proud to have the same eyes as my father's. I wanted to grow up, with my dad. I really did. And when I see your eyes, it's empty and cold, and nothing like my father's. It makes me so sad inside. And what's more disturbing... I'm pretty sure, if I saw my own eyes a moment ago, they would look much like yours. Cold and empty."
"So, what?" scoffs Star, "Sounds like more weakness again. I'm embarrassed to be beaten by an insect like you!" "Yeah," nods Galen, "And that last thing I've said, 'You don't have the right to breath', it just hit me. It sounds like something you would say. And nothing my father would have said, ever. We may share the same genes, Star, but I rather not be like you. I rather not be chained with hate, ignorance, and... fear. I pity you, Star. And I'm sure my father did too. And that's what made you fearful, that maybe you brother had found something that you haven't found yet, something more better than your Lord Zev and darkness. So, you had to kill him, to quell your fears. Isn't that right?"
"S-Shut up!" yells Star. "You had to make it go away," nods Galen, "Didn't you? If your brother was correct, it meant that you've wasted all your life in the dark. That what you really wondered inside was true. My father had wondered it too, but he took a chance to finding out the truth and stepping into the light. He was brave enough to go against what he knew and found something you really couldn't wrap your hands around and control."

Star: "Shut up! Stop talking!!!" W('O')W
Galen: "This is your fear! But, you could have done the same thing! You could have left and stepped into the light too! But you were too afraid of that unknown place..." (-_-)
Star: "Why won't you shut up?!" W('O')W
Galen: "Your brother was more brave and he was rewarded for that bravery. And you hated that, with all your being. The thought that maybe he had beat you and gained something much better." (-_-)
Star: "You don't know anything?!" W('O')W
Galen: "But you could have done the same thing. You could have been rewarded too." (-_-)
Oar: "But instead... he killed his brother, his family, and his friends. All the things his brother was rewarded." (-_-)
Faeda: "And Star wasn't rewarded still. He just took away his brothers rewards." (-_-)
Vi: "And did it make you feel better, Star?" (-_-)
Edeline: "Did it make you feel better, to destroy your brother?" (-_-)

"Shut up!" growls Star, staggering to his feet, "All of you! Stop speaking as if you know things! You know nothing!" "Then why don't you clue us in?" says Adie. "My brother," yells Star, "Abandoned me!" Shocked by his own words, Star stumbles against a wall. "I-" he says, trying to take back the emotions, but it's too late. Everyone looks to him, shocked, wondering what this foe will say next. Defeated, Star continues to let those feelings go, "Darren... he... he defended me, against the others, despite that fact that our kind do not care for such actions. Everyone... they would make fun of me... they still do. But Darren... he would hurt anyone who'd dare to say anything bad about me."
"At first," says Star, "It annoyed me... I thought it to be sick, unnatural, to care for another that wasn't Lord Zev. I often thought he did this, defending me, just to make me sick or annoyed. Sorta like teasing me, in some cruel way. But... after years, I got used to it, even depended on it. Then one day, he just left me... to live among the lesser creatures, like you! He didn't care to stick up for me anymore, he only cared about that idiot woman, and that child...! I wanted to erase everything and make him remember me! But he... he was stubborn! So, I killed him too!" Everyone stares at Star.
"You dumb fool." frowns Oar, "You idiot. Don't you realize that because your brother was able to care for you, he was able to care for others, therefore he fit in with the 'lesser beings', as you put it? Don't you realize? The same thing that you wanted from your brother, the friendship, care, and protection, is the very thing you seek to destroy now? Something you could have earned, just like your brother did, if you'd took a peak into the light? Your answer wasn't destroying your brother, it was simply to join your brother. To live here with him and be a uncle to Galen. If not a father to your own!"

Star: "I... I... I..." (o_o)
Edeline: "How different that would've been. The very people you've murdered here... they could have defended you, just like your brother once did." (-_-)
Star: "I..." (o_o)
Faeda: "And imagine, you could have been a fine uncle to Galen too." (^_^)
Star: (o_o)
Adie: "And having your own children, instead of hurting children and their families." (-_-)
Galen: "All you had to do was stop being afraid..." (>_>)
Edeline: "And if you needed help, you could have asked your brother."
(-_-)

Galen: "But instead, you killed them all..." (<_<)
Star: (-_-)
Galen: "It's not over... You still have two choices." (-_-)

Star gives his nephew a puzzling look. "Yes," says Galen, "Us 'lesser beings' do believe in choices and 'second chances'. It may sound like a weakness to you, but for us, it's our strength. So, you will get two choices. You can continue to live darkness and I will let you go, this time. But if I ever cross paths with you again, I will have to kill you." "What's the second?" asks Star. "You can live on our side, in light." smiles Faeda. "Yes," nods Galen, "If you're willing to cast your fears away..." "But..." says Star, confused, "I killed your parents."
"And I may never forgive you for that." says Galen, looking towards the ground, "But I know my mother and father, would want me to try to be civil, with my uncle. I will do everything, to get you into the light, if you desire it." "I-" says Star, his eyes sparkling with emotions, "I don't know what to s-" An fireball slams into Star and our group duck from the others that follow. "Traitor!" growls Fruma, her fists clenched. "Fruma!" whimpers Star, "I... they had defeated me... I wasn't-" "Save your breath!" she growls, "I heard much of it! I told our Lord that sending you was an mistake! Since Sonya's death, he isn't thinking clearly!"
Star crawls into a corner, shaking. "But," says Fruma, "Even I wouldn't have guessed that you were a traitor! I knew your useless brother were, but since you killed him, you had proved your loyalties. Why would you do such a foolish thing, as to undo the pillar on which your worth was built on? You truly are a fool, Star!" "Stop making fun of me!" he shouts, covering his eyes. "Look at you," scoffs Fruma, "So pathetic! I can't stand to look at you, you're so disgusting and weak!" "Shut up!" yells Galen, "Leave him alone!" Star looks up, bewildered. "It's your fault he's so weak, insect!" hissed Fruma.

Galen: "If Star is weak, it's because he's spent too much time with trash like you!" (-_-)
Faeda: "Leave Star alone!" (o_o)
Adie: "You meanie!" (u_u)
Star: (o_o)
Fruma: "Disgusting... you've already made alliances with them." (>_<)
Edeline: "Back off, Fruma!" (;u_u)
Vi: "We won't let you hurt Star anymore!" (-_-)
Oar: "Go away. You're not wanted here, Fruma!" (-_-)
Star: "..." (o_o)
Fruma: "Useless... you are all useless. The saddest of them all, is you Star..." (>_>)
Star: (-_-)
Fruma: "Lord Zev isn't going to like this... one bit." (u_u)
Galen: "SO WHAT?!" W('O')W
Adie: "Poo on Lord Zev!" W('O')W
Faeda: (o_o)

"Well..." shrugs Fruma, "I'll have to face Lord Zev's disappointment, alone. But, it will go easier..." She sends a huge fireball into Star, crushing him into the wall, with a crunch. "Star!" everyone yells, rushing to his side. Star lays crumpled on the ground, barely breathing. "You... you..." growls Galen, giving Fruma a dark look of deep hatred. "If he's dead," smiles Fruma, "Lord Zev may reward me for taking care of the traitor. And since Star and my sister are now out of the picture, I am the top person for my grand Lord to turn to! Yay!"
"Heartless." growls Oar, surprised by Fruma's celebration. "Hearts are for the weak." she shrugs, slightly annoyed with Oar's interruption. "Don't worry!" gasps Faeda, knelling before Star, "I'll heal him!" "Uh-uh." smiles Fruma, casting a orb around Faeda. It was the same type that Star had cast over Vi, on the Yellow Island. "Oh, no!" shrieks Adie. Edeline and Galen instinctively try to break it, but is tossed away by it's field. The orb floats back towards Fruma. "And," she says, triumphantly, "This is the prize that Lord Zev ordered Star to bring back. But since he was so stupid and weak, I guess it's my mission now!" "Faeda!" yells Vi, "No! Let her go!" Before Adie or Oar could reach them, Fruma and Faeda was gone!
"Faeda!" screams Adie, hopping up and down in frustration. "They took her!" gasps Oar. "What are we going to do?" says Vi, collapsing to the ground, "Lord Zev has the seer! All is lost!" Galen and Edeline are nearby the dying Star. "Why?" he gasps, " Why did you try to save me? Why did you stick up for me? I didn't say for sure, if I were going to join your side! But... you just...! You didn't even wait, you tried to help me!" "It wasn't right," says Galen, "How Fruma treated you." "T-that's what Darren..." gasps Star, "Use to say. 'It isn't right... how they treat you...'. You are more like him, Galen, than you know..."

Edeline: "We have to get him to a doctor!" (-_-)
Galen: "Yeah, I know... he doesn't have long..." (-_-)
Star: "You're still... trying to... protect me." (;^_^)
Edeline: "Don't talk anymore! Hey, Galen, where's the nearest doctor?"
(-_-)

Galen: "I think... the third house on the end? I can't be sure!" (o_o)
Oar: "I'll find the doctor." (-_-)
Star: "You're so kind... and forgiving..." (;^_^)
Galen: "Star... I don't think you should talk anymore. You're making it worse." (>_>)
Star: "I... I think I know... why my brother left... now..." (;^_^)
Galen: "Star..." (-_-)
Star: "Galen... I'm sorry... I'm sorry for everything." (;^_^)
Galen: "Star?" (o_O)
Star: "..."
Galen: "Star? You hang on, the doctor will be here in-" (O_o)

But Star was already gone... Our heroes, heavy with the passing of Star and the missing Faeda, wondered what to do...
