- Chapter 35: The Great Lord Zev! -

Fruma returns to the secret lair of Lord Zev, with an exhausted Faeda. She had tried to fight the orb, from within, but had lost. Through tired eyes, Faeda gazes around the extravagant crystal hall of this evil lair. The floor seemed to be made of glass and there are royal red carpets, leading from the door and up the long winding stairs. This place was mystical, in a way, but Faeda could feel it's darkness, all around. The huge ice-like chandelier shook, sparkled and chimed, as above someone was thundering towards the stairs. Zev's guards, including Fruma, instantly bowed as a dark figure rushes towards them with inhuman speeds.

Zev: "Where is Star?!" W('O')W
Fruma: "He'd dare to deny you and became a traitor, becoming fast friends with the lesser beings." (-_-)
Zev: "YOU LIE!!!" W('O')W
Fruma: "No. I have no reason to, my Lord." (-_-)
Zev: "Bring that fool to me!!!" W('O')W
Fruma: "I left his useless body in Rainhaven, sir." (-_-)
Zev: "Hmm... very good, Fruma..." (-_-)
Fruma: "Also, I bought the seer and the Key, as you had once instructed the Traitor." (-_-)
Faeda: (u_u)
Zev: "Ah! Very good indeed!" (^o^)

Zev embraces Fruma, much like he use to embrace Sonya, with great joy and satisfaction. "Oh, Fruma." he smiles, "If you continue these achievements, you may just gain your dead sister's title!" He instantly, pushes away Fruma, as if now disgusted. But he's still pleased with the cruel girl. Fruma is neither moved by Zev's embrace or his mention of Sonya death. Fruma is more interested if Sonya's old rank means more killing for her to do. Before she could ask, Lord Zev walks towards the orb, laughing menacing.
"Seer," he grins, "What a small little girl, you are! You would think the Guardians would choose someone more powerful to wield the Key, not something so frail and weak." Faeda simply stares, hoping her friends in Serenity are safe, too tired to care about her own situation. Zev removes the orb around Faeda, with the wave of an hand, and she falls to the floor. "Now," says Zev, "Let's make this simple, seer. Hand over the Key." "No." says Faeda, clutching her gown. "What?" laughs Zev, "Don't be stupid! You cannot win here, so just give me what I want!"
"No." repeats Faeda, unafraid. "GIVE ME THE KEY!" roared Zev, sending a force that throws Faeda into a wall. "I..." gasps Faeda, raising her head slowly, to face Zev, "Will not! This Key isn't yours!" "It belongs to me!" he roars, "You have no use for it, lesser being!" "I am not less than you!" shouts Faeda, "So stop referring to me in that way!" "Hmm..." says Zev, in cold fury, "This one dares to speak to me, as if we're on the same level. It's very annoying. I shall kill her first, then take the Key!"

Faeda: "No, you will not! This Key doesn't belong to darkness, only the light!" (o_o)
Fruma: "Sir? Shall I kill her, for you?" (-_-)
Zev: "NO! I want to enjoy her death, myself!" (u_u)
Fruma: "Yes, sir..." (>_>)
Faeda: "YoU wIlL nOt KiLl ThE sEeR." (-_-)
Fruma: "What the-" (o_o)
Zev: "It's the power of the Key... speaking through this lesser being?" (o_O)
Faeda: "YoU cAn NoT sToP oUr WiLl..." (-_-)
Zev: "No... wait... it's the voice of those Guardians ! Meddlesome, aren't they?" (;u_u)
Fruma: "What to do?" (o_o)
Zev: "There's no need to worry. They have no power here. Only the Key has power and it will know me as it's true master!" (;u_u)

As Zev reaches for the Key, huge white wings burst forth and surround Faeda, not unlike a cocoon. Zev's hand, still in mid-reach, brushes against the feathers and burn! He screams, holding his wounded hand to his chest, "No! No! NO!" His guards are afraid and began to run around in a panic. Fruma is highly annoyed, but still so cold, staring at the wings with dark thoughts. Zev is hopping around, having a child-like tantrum. "Why?!" he screams, "Why is this happening?! The Key belongs to me! ME!!!!"
"Sir," sighs Fruma, bored, "If this really is the doing of those Guardians, then it's just a spell. Something we can easily counteract." "Yes..." says Zev, calming down a bit, "Yes. That's true. Our craft is more powerful than anything in this world." "I will find this spell's weakness." bows Fruma. "You do that." nods Zev, weakly heading for the stairs, "I will retire to my room and tend to my wound. Oh, and Fruma..." "Yes, sir?" she asks, annoyed. "If you shall fail," he says, "I will take your life. Understand?" "As you wish." she shrugs. Within the wings of the Guardians, Faeda sleeps peacefully...
Meanwhile in Rainhaven, our heroes sit around Galen's table, trying to figure out what to do. "All is not lost." nods Vi, "The Guardians assure me, that Faeda is safe, protected from Zev's hands." "How?" asks Adie, anxious. "I'm not sure," Vi answers, something about Wings Of Light..." "Could you find her?" asks Galen, "Could you find Faeda, by using the song?" "Yes." nods Vi, "Even though Zev's lair is hidden, the Guardians will show us the way." "Well," smiles Adie, "That's great! What are we waiting for?!"

Oar: "It's not that simple. There are now five of us and Zev still has an army." (-_-)
Edeline: "It's true, his army is now small in size, but we have had a hard time fighting just Fruma alone." (-_-)
Galen: "And Zev has got to be stronger than Fruma, Star, and Sonya, put together..." (u_u)
Adie: "Oh, crud! So, what are we going to do?" (>_>)
Vi: "We need backup..." (-_-)
Edeline: "General Lu!" \(^o^)/
Galen: "Huh?" (o_O)
Edeline: "We can ask him for allies, to help save Faeda!" (^_^)V
Adie: "Yeah and also Mayor Morrain!" (^^)//
Vi: "Wait... traveling to Scarletwood and Ivy Castle would take some... Faeda must be saved sooner!" (o_o)
Adie: "Duh! We'll split up, silly. Edeline and I can go get help and you three can go save Faeda! We'll catch up, in time!" (^_-)

"Um..." frowns Oar, "There's still a flaw in that plan, Adie. Besides the seer, only Vi can hear the song... therefore, how are you going to find us, if Vi's with Galen and I?" "Oh," waves Adie, "I guess you don't know... Hi, I am a Mage!" Everyone frowns and exchanged looks. "I can make a magical tracking device." she frowns, getting annoyed now. Everyone is still frowning and exchanging looks. "Hey!" huffs Adie, "I happen to be an EXPERT at this spell!" "Really?" asks Edeline, "How does it work?" "Well," says Adie, happy again, "All I need is an ordinary item! A seashell, a rock, or bottlecap. And then I can cast the lovely spell on that item and voila! I can follow the magical trail it leaves, which only Mages can see!"
"Uh-huh," nods Galen, "Interesting... But... are you sure you know how to cast this spell?" "I've been casting it, since I was for six years old." sighs Adie. "Good," says Oar, "All we need now is a rock... Galen, give her your head." "HEY!!!" growls Galen. "Cut it out." frowns Edeline, "This is serious, our friend is in trouble." Vi and Adie giggle. "Um..." ponders Edeline, "A seashell... nothing like that here... maybe there's one near Rain Shores?" "We don't have time for traveling around Serenity for seashells." frowns Adie, "There must be something here. Any item!" Oar grabs something from the floor.

Adie: (o_o)
Edeline: "An old soup can?" (o_O)
Galen: "Well, it's an item..." (;^_^)
Adie: "Whatever. It will do." (u_u)
Vi: "Can you seriously use an old can?" (>_>)
Adie: "Yup! Now move back... let me work my mojo!" (^_^)
Oar: "How odd..." (-_-)
Adie: *casting* "Hidden under the honey dew, of sweet perfection..." (-_-)
Edeline: "What is, Oar?" (-_-)
Oar: "This feeling I have inside. I really want to-" (-_-)
Adie: "Shh! Edeline, Oar, I need concentration." (u_u)
Edeline: "Oh, sorry..." (;^_^)

Oar and Edeline moves away from the table. "I have this feeling," he whispers, "This sick feeling in the pit of my stomach, I am anxious to save Faeda." "Well," frowns Edeline, "Faeda's your friend too, right? You're suppose to feel anxious... and scared, confused, worried... all of those things." "I know," he sighs, "I've read about these typical reactions in books. But I've never experienced them, before. It's just... odd." "Hey," says Edeline, shaking her head, "You're the one who's odd." "And..." says Oar, "Because I am experiencing new things, because of my friend Faeda, I want to save her more. Does that make sense?" "Yes." smiles Edeline.
"Ha-ha!" cheers Adie, "It is done! Just take the can along with you and-" "Wait," frowns Oar, "We have to carry an old can around with us?" "Uh-huh." nods Adie, "It's the tracker." "Great." frowns Oar. "Well," shrugs Galen, "You're the one who picked it. You can't complain now." "You're right," Oar says, "I picked it from your dirty floor. I should have known better." "SHUT UP!!!" yells Galen. "Okay," says Edeline, going over the plan, "Adie and I will travel to Ivy Castle. We'll let General Lu get in touch with Scarletwood. We don't have time to visit both places." "Right." agrees Adie.
Vi continues, "Galen, Oar and I will go to Redport. Zev's lair is hidden in the Ice Fields. We'll wait until we can't possibly wait anymore, for backup to arrive. If you don't make it there in time, it will be up to us three to save Faeda, right?" "Of course." nods Galen, "But lets hope the Calvary gets there on time. Or the rescue mission may become a bloodbath." Everyone exchanged worried looks. "Well..." shrugs Galen, "It's now or never." They rush from the home and grabbed their horses from the stables.

Vi: "Okay, Edeline and Adie... Good luck and be safe!" (;^_^)
Edeline: "Yeah, you be safe too, Vi." (-_-)
Adie: "Oar, take good care of Galen and Vi!" (^_-)
Oar: "I will, if you promise me that you will be safe." (-_-)
Adie: "Oh, I promise." (*^_^*)
Edeline: "Galen, no rushing into the fight, without us." (u_u)
Galen: "What? I wouldn't-" (o_o)
Edeline: "Galen, I know you. DON'T." (u_u)
Galen: "Edeline, I-" (;^_^)
Edeline: "Remember, I said DON'T! So, no running in, before you have to." (;u_u)
Galen: "Edeline-" (;^_^)
Edeline: "And don't be stubborn! Oar, if Galen tries to go in the lair early, turn him into stone!" (;u_u)
Oar: "Okay!" (^o^)
Galen: "EDELINE!!!" W('O')W
Edeline: "WHAT?!!!" W('O')W
Galen: "I love you too." (;^_^)
Edeline: (*^_^*)

Oar and Vi share a horse, Galen has a horse alone, and Edeline and Adie shares a horse. They go their separate ways, one horse heading for Ivy Castle, and two heading for Redport. "We have to hurry." says Vi, leaning her face into Oar's back. "Don't worry," says Oar, "We'll make it. We're going to save Faeda." "Yeah!" shouts Galen, "Zev is going to be sorry he ever knew of us! We're going to take away everything he has!" "Um," frowns Oar, "You do know, that I took Edeline's instructions seriously, right?" Galen gives Oar a dark look, Vi giggles. "You people are no fun." growls Galen, speeding off ahead.
After a while, they reach Redport, the town of iron ships! Redport specializes in the blue ore trades. And blue ores are found in The Ice Lands only. Therefore, they are the only seaport that has ships made of iron and access to the icy corner of Serenity. "What are blue ores for, anyway?" asks Galen, as our group ties their horses in the stable. "They are material," answers Oar, "With magical properties, used in many battle objects." "Yes," nods Vi, "My violin has blue ores in it, to help amplify my song spells." "My arrows are made with blue ores." says Oar, "Which makes it possible to transfer my stone skill to them." "Even your battle shoes," explains Vi, "Has blue ores."
"Hmph," says Galen, looking at his feet, as though they were alien, "Weird..." "Redport is one of the wealthiest towns in Serenity," explains Vi, "Because of their special trade. And without their invention of the iron ships, reaching The Ice Fields would not be possible today." "Enough with the history lesson." frowns Galen, bored, "Let's get aboard one of those iron giants!" "I guess you can't teach a chimp." says Oar. "WHAT DID YOU SAY?!!!" growls Galen. "Alright." sighs Vi, breaking up that fight, "We'll have to ask one of the captains for an ride."

Galen: "Well... I hope we don't have to pay, because Faeda had all of the money..." (>_>)
Vi: "Oh, wow... you're right." (;^_^)
Oar: "Maybe if we'd just explain to the captain, about Faeda and our quest, they will be kind enough to sail us there for free." (-_-)
Captain Pete: "Bloody hell!" (o_o)
Oar: "AHHHH!" (o_o)
Galen: "Oh, hell no!!!" W('O')W
Vi: "Captain Pete! What are you doing here?" (^o^)
Captain Pete: "Hello, love. I'm here to fill in for my friend, Barty. He's come down with a terrible cold, poor sod, been working in the ice too long." (;^_^)
Vi: "So, you're here to sail one of the iron ships?" (o_o)
Captain Pete: "Of course! I can't let ol' Barty down, now can I?" (^_-)
Oar: "This is an nightmare!!!" (>_<)
Galen: (@_@)
Captain Pete: "Hang on... where's Faeda? And the warrior girl and cute Mage?" (o_O)
Oar: "HEY!!!" W('O')W
Vi: "Faeda's been kidnapped... by Lord Zev." (-_-)

"Crikey!" yells Captain, "What the bloody hell happened?!" "Faeda had finished the Key," explains Vi, "And we were on our way to save Serenity. But then Zev and his army surprised attacked us and they took Faeda." "We're going to rescue her." nods Galen, "But we need a ride to The Ice Fields. So, if you'll excuse us, we'll have to ask one of the captains..." Galen tries to hurry off Vi, Oar is already quickly moving away.
"Wait!" yells Pete, "I can take you across!" "No, no." waves Galen, "We wouldn't want to take up your time! Think of poor Barty!" "Don't be daft!" frowns Captain Pete, "I'm heading for The Ice Fields anyway. Get on board!" Before Galen could think up of another excuse, Vi heads towards Pete's iron ship, thanking him for his kindness. "Gah!!!!" yells Galen, collapsing to the ground. "Well..." frowns Oar, "It was a good try. We almost got away." "Hey, mates!" Captain calls out, "Don't piddle about all day! We have to save, Faeda! Get a move on now!" Both sigh and head for the ship.
"How many days," asks Vi, "Until we get there, Captain Pete?" "Hmm..." says Captain, going into the control room and flipping switches, "About three days, until we reach shore." "I hope that's not too long." worries Vi. "Faeda is strong." says Galen, placing a hand on Vi's shoulder, "And with the help of the Guardians, I'm sure she'll wait, until her friends get there." "Alright, mates." nods Pete, "It's best if you stay inside the control room or below deck. We are headed towards cold climates. And the pretty lass is barely wearing any clothes."

Vi: (*^_^*)
Galen: "PERVERT!" W('O')W
Captain Pete: "Eh, like you haven't noticed! She's practically running around naked! Hmm..." (^o^)
Oar: (o_o)
Galen: "Stop imagining her naked, dirty old man!!!" W('O')W
Vi: (*^_^*)
Captain Pete: "Fine, fine..." (>_>)
Oar: "Disgusting..." (-_-)
Vi: (o_o)
Oar: "Oh, I don't mean that you're... that is to say... I'm sure... I mean...!" (;^_^)
Vi: "Forget it. Let's just change the subject." (u_u)
Galen: "If is wasn't for Faeda, I'd hop this ship, by now." (-_-)
Captain Pete: "Come now, don't feel eggy, mate. We'll have a blast, for the next three days, I'm sure!" (^o^)

Galen rushes from the control room and towards the boat's rail, Oar running behind him. "Nevermind!" he yells, throwing one leg over the rail, "I'll get there some other way!" But the ship begans to pull away from the dock. "It's too late." frowns Oar, "We're moving now." "So what?" frowns Galen, "We're not far from the dock! Let's just swim back!" Oar considers it. "Hey!" yells Vi, "Stop acting stupid and get back inside! We have to save Faeda, remember?" Both guys sulk and drag themselves back into the control room. "Mental." sighs Captain Pete, shaking his head. Oar and Galen growl.
The next day, the ship begins to get a little colder and frost form on the windshield and deck. Captain Pete lends Vi one of his fur jackets, Oar is well protected with his feather cloak, and Galen is doing okay with his monk jacket. They watch the seas, behind the glass of the control room, while sipping hot coco. "Looks like the seas are giving us safe passage." nods Captain, "There's not a ripple to be seen. So, don't worry, love... We will get there on time." Vi nods, still worried. She listens to the song, for any change...
By day three, Vi stands in the cold, on the bow of the ship. "Vi!" yells Oar, going out onto the snow-covered deck, with sharp winds, "What are you doing?! You'll freeze!" "I can no longer hear the song inside." she nods, "I have to stand out here to listen." "Come back inside!" yells Galen, struggling to get close, "Vi, you'll freeze!" "But the song!" she shouts. "Vi," frowns Oar, grabbing her arm, "We need you alive, not a frozen figurine. Now, come back inside!" "But..." worries Vi. "It's okay." assures Galen, grabbing her other arm, "Faeda will be fine. Don't worry!" Reluctantly, she goes back in.

Captain Pete: (>_>)
Vi: "I sorry... I didn't mean to make you all worry." (-_-)
Galen: "We understand. It's your job to make sure the seer is safe." (;^_^)
Oar: "But it's foolish to put yourself in unnecessary harm." (-_-)
Vi: "I know... it's just that... Faeda is more to me, than just an seer. She's my best friend." (-_-)
Galen: "Yeah... I would do some pretty reckless things for my best friend too." (;^_^)
Vi: "You mean, Edeline? I thought you two were a couple, now." (o_O)
Galen: "WHAT?" (o_o)
Captain Pete: "Whoa-ho! So the monk and the warrior girl! Very posh!" (^o^)
Galen: "No... we're... just friends..." (*^_^*)
Oar: "Sure..." (<_<)
Vi: "And Adie and Oar are a couple too!" (^o^)
Galen: "Yeah, that's right!" o(^_-)O
Oar: "What?! No, we're not!" (o_o)
Captain Pete: "Hmm... what about Faeda? And you, Vi?" (O_o)

"Oh," blushes Vi, "I have no one to be interested in. And Faeda is still a child, in many ways." "So, they mainly giggle." frowns Oar. "And pair others up." nods Galen. Captain Pete chuckles. "Well," frowns Vi, "There is truth to our pairings, whether you guys deny it or not. Oar loves Adie and Galen loves Edeline. Even a blind man could see that." Both guys blush and look towards the floor. "Hmm..." thinks Vi, "I wonder how Edeline and Adie are doing..."
Adie and Edeline has just reached Mist Woods. They stop there for a small rest, after riding non-stop for many hours and hardly stopping to sleep. "Do you still see their trail?" asks Edeline, worried about the spell. "Yes," nods Adie, "Looks like they're crossing the sea, heading for The Ice Fields." "Good." says Edeline, thinking about Galen. "They'll be fine." waves Adie, "As long as they don't lose that soup can, backup will be on the way." "Yeah." smiles Edeline, "Let's keep going. We can't disappoint them!" They ride off towards Ivy Castle...
