It is nightfall and our heroes decide to make a camp, just
for tonight. In the morning, they continue their path to Ivy Castle. But what everyone is dying
to know is Faeda's story. Edeline and Adie wait patiently, as Faeda takes a seat by the fire.
Galen is grinding his teeth in anticipation. The only one calm is Vi, who seems to know Faeda's
story already... or at least part of it. Faeda takes a deep sigh and faces her friends with the
truth.
Faeda: "I am sorry for keeping a secret from you guys." (;^_^)
Edeline: "It's okay, if you share it with us now." (^_^)
Galen: "Just spit it out!" (u_u)
Adie: "How rude, Galen!" (o_o)
Galen: "SHUT UP!" W('O')W
Edeline: "Quiet, both of you! Faeda's ready to speak!" (u_u)
Faeda: "Thank you, Edeline." (^_^)
"Well," began Faeda, "Let me start from the beginning... I am Faeda Ynair,
of the royal family of Ynair, of Gryphon Islands." Edeline gasps. "What?" frowns Galen, "Is that
suppose to mean something?" "Are you stupid?" frowns Adie, "Of course it does! Don't you get it?
She's royalty !" Edeline and Vi both sighed, annoyed with Adie's statement.
"It's much
more than that," frowns Edeline, "Many of the people on Gryphon Islands are 'seers'. Very sensitive
to the balance of life and death, darkness and light, good and evil."
"Which means," continues Vi, "They have the power to unlock the deepest secrets
of Serenity, including it's hidden treasures." "Yeah..." blushes Adie, "I knew that... I wasn't
finished speaking!" "It's because of that fact," Faeda continues, "That I kept everything a secret.
You see, us seers are always in danger, because of our gifts. Some would like to exploit us to find
riches or to help win wars! And because very few of us have any skills to defend ourselves..."
Galen: "Why don't you just learn a fighting skill? Being that your people are
prime targets, seems like your Island would learn how to fight!" (>_>)
Faeda: "...It's not that simple..." (;^_^)
Vi: "The people of Gryphon Islands are special. In order to have such powers,
they must have a pure heart, without malice." (-_-)
Edeline: "Therefore... no one there knows the art of fighting, only healing."
(^_^)
Faeda: "Correct. With only a completely peaceful heart and soul, may we obtain the
power to see between the balances." (^_^)
Galen: "That sucks... why not just give up that power, then?" (>_>)
Faeda: (o_o)
"Y...Y..." choked Faeda, "You can't be serious?!" "Gee, Galen..." sighs Edeline,
"You really are stupid, aren't you?" "What'd I say?!" he yelled, "Come on, think about it! The people
of Gryphon Islands are prime targets of scum, because of this power, right? So, if they get rid of
that power, then problem solved! They are safe and free to learn a few battle skills." "He just doesn't
get it..." frowns Edeline, placing a hand over her eyes. "We need the seers," explained Vi, softly, "All
of us, every living thing of Serenity. For our survival."
"Wait a minute," says Adie, "Did I miss something important?" "You see," continues Vi,
"Every once in a while, the balance between light and darkness go awry. Darkness begins to take over and
soon every living thing in Serenity will die. The only thing that will exist are demons, the dead, and
the purest forms of evil." Adie tries to imagine that world, covered with zombies and monsters! "Yowl!" she
screams, jumping into Galen's lap, "That's too horrible!" "Get off me!" growls Galen, pushing her to the
ground. "Oww!" she frowns, "That was mean!"
Galen: "So... what you're saying is, the seer can stop this from happening? How?" (o_O)
Faeda: "When the 'Song Of The Guardians' play, an seer follows." (^_^)
Galen: "The song of what? Now, I'm confused again." (o_O)
Edeline: "...Were you ever not?" (>_>)
Vi: "The Song Of The Guardians. It's a song of distress and instructions. Only those of
great light and skill can hear it." (-_-)
Adie: "Ah... now I see! Things are starting to make sense now!" (^o^)
Edeline: "Wait... You can hear the song too, Vi?" (o_o)
Vi: "Yes." (^_^)
"I have the skill of a Bard," she explained, to Galen's confused looks, "I can hear every and any
song. Especially the Song Of The Guardians." "Wait!" gasps Galen, "You mean the song is playing now?!" "Hello!", frowns
Adie, hands on her hips, "Took you long enough to catch on. Of course it is!" "If you add it up," nodded Edeline, "The
strange conversations between Vi and Faeda, the reaction on Sonya's face and her remarks, and the need to rush to
Ivy Castle... Wait... why are we heading for Ivy Castle again?" "The song instructs me to visit the Queen." answers
Feada, "She will tell us where next to go." "'Us'?" choked Galen, "Who's this 'us', that you speak of!"
Everyone looks at Galen, not knowing what to say. "Hey," he shrugs, "I agreed to escort Faeda to
her destination! I NEVER agreed to follow her on some quest to save Serenity! If the world's dying, I need to get home
and start making arrangements!" "What arrangements, stupid!" roared Edeline, "If Serenity dies, everyone dies, including
you! So, what are you planing to do? Write a will and leave all your treasures to The Infinite Evil That Rules The Earth?"
Galen turned pale and then beet red. "S...Shut up!" he countered lamely, knowing Edeline was right. Adie and Vi giggled.
"Look," frowns Edeline, "Faeda's our friend, isn't she? Of course we'll help her!"
Adie: "Besides, we live in Serenity too... So if she fails, we all die!" (;^_^)
Edeline: (o_o)
Faeda: "Heh... I won't fail..." (;^_^)
Galen: "Yeah... makes sense to help." (u_u)
Edeline: "Hey, don't listen to them, Faeda! I believe you can do it!" (^_-)
Faeda: "Thanks." (^_^)
Adie: "I believe too! I only added in that 'fail' part for Galen's
benefit!" (;^_^)
Galen: "Yeah, right... Why do I always have to be the scapegoat?!" (>_>)
Vi: "Because you're the only guy in the group!" (^o^)
Everyone laughs, while Galen sulks. "Enough fun," yawns Edeline, "We must wake at dawn."
"Yes," nodded Adie, "We're going to meet the Queen!" Everyone slowly slides off to sleep, under the sparkling
sky, except for Faeda. She stares at the brightest star, listening to the unknown song, and she whispers...
"I will save Serenity..."
