Adie and Oar arrive in Mist Woods, by early afternoon, excited
about helping Vi on her first date! Well... Adie is excited. Oar is annoyed with the whole idea of
someone nice as Vi dating someone like Captain Pete. But determine to be supportive of both Vi and
his love, Adie, Oar is tagging along for the ride.
Oar: (;-_-)
Adie: "It's so romantic! Vi's first date! And it's with the handsome Captain Pete!" (*_*)
Oar: (;-_-)
Adie: "Isn't it romantic, Oar?" (*_*)
Oar: (;-_-)
Adie: "Oar?" (o_O)
Oar: (;>_>)
Adie: "Hey! What's your problem?!" (u_u)
Oar: "Am I the only one who sees a problem with this?" (;-_-)
Adie: "Well... sure... Captain Pete is a little goofy... but, it is Vi's
choice. We can't choose her dates, you know. As her friends, we should be supportive and
helpful." (;^_^)
Oar: "As friends, shouldn't we talk her out of this?" (;-_-)
Adie: "Hush, you! You only dislike Captain Pete, because he threw rocks
at you." (>_>)
Oar: "Well, what other reason is there to not like someone?!" (o_o)
The ground begins to shake and a huge tabby rushes by. "Sprinkles?" gasps
Adie, "I wonder where he's headed." "Oh," says a voice, "To chase monsters." Vi stands before them,
smiling and waving. "Vi!" cheers Adie, rushing to hug her friend. "It's nice to see you guys again."
nods Vi, as Adie gives her a bear hug. Oar gives her a nod back. "So?" grins Adie, "Ready for your
date?" Vi blushes, "Oh, that... Well, I've decided not to go. Wait, you guys didn't come here for that,
did you?" "Of course!" frowns Adie, disappointed, "Why would you cancel the date?"
Oar: "Because she has brains?" (;^_^)
Adie: (>_>)
Vi: "Um... because... I had a change of heart." (;^_^)
Adie: (o_O)
Vi: "Um, yeah... And I'm busy today... I have to wash my hair..." (;^_^)
Adie: "Vi?" (-_-)
Vi: "So, I'm sorry you guys came all this way for nothing. Ha-ha!" (;^_^)
Adie: "You're lying..." (-_-)
Vi: (o_o)
Adie: "Why would you lie to your friends?" (;_;)
Oar: "Yes, it's okay if you've come to your senses and realized that Pete is moron. It's
the truth and we wouldn't hold it against you. No need to lie." (-_-)
Vi: "The truth is... this would be my first date... I'm afraid I'll mess it
up." (-_-)
Adie: "Awww! That's no reason to run away! I'm here to help!" (^o^)
Oar: "Has the world gone mad...?" (-_-)
"Thank you, Adie and Oar." blushes Vi. "Hey," frowns Oar, "I didn't come here to help! I
think this is a bad idea. Very bad !" Adie gives him a dark look. "Heh," he says, nervously, "I mean...
Yes... I'm all supportive and helpful for my best friend, Vi. What can I do?" "You can keep an lookout for
monsters," frowns Adie, "Vi and I are going inside her cottage, to pick outfits." "Yay!" smiles Vi, giggling.
"Yes, dear..." teases Oar. The girls ignore him and go closet hunting.
Now bored, Oar begins to send Galen a letter, telling him about this ridiculous date.
"We should stop her, really!", Oar ends his letter, sighing. He cares for all of his friends and only want the
best for them. But was Captain Pete really the best for Vi? Sweet quiet Vi, who is smart and thoughtful of others.
her powerful songs that she will only sing to protect those she loves. Paired with an loud and arrogant Pete, who's
forgetful and often dim, always rushes into trouble and only armed with rocks? It was a bad match! Just then a
cheerful Vi, dressed in a beautiful pink gown, floats from her cabin.
Oar: "Woah..." (o_o)
Adie: "Ta-da! See? Did I work my mojo or what?" (^o^)
Vi: "What do you think, Oar?" (;^_^)
Oar: "You look... like an goddess!" (o_o)
Vi: *giggles* (*^_^*)
Adie: "Captain Pete will be tongue-tied!" (^o^)
Oar: "Adie... didn't you go too far, with the dress?" (>_>)
Adie: "What do you mean?" (o_O)
Oar: "I thought he invited her to a fair... she looks like she's
going to a ball." (>_>)
Adie: "Well, she is silly!" (>_<)
"It's an evening dance." explains Adie, "Everyone will be wearing their best!" "Are you sure?" asks
Oar, trying to imagine a bunch of fishermen in tuxs. "Yes." nods Vi, "I heard of it. But never attended before, because
I didn't have a date." "Oh yeah," nods Adie, "Since this is Vi's first date, we'll have to tag along to help." "What?"
frowns Oar, "I never agreed to go to a ball! I don't even own a tux!" "No problem." giggles Adie, pointing her staff towards
Oar. His feathered gear turns into a nice black suit, complete with a small black tie.
"Ack!" he yells, "I look like a butler!" "You look perfect." nods Adie, changing her outfit into a purple
sequence gown. Her hat disappears and long straight purple hair flows around her face. Oar stares, speechless. "Hmm," smiles
Vi, "I always wondered if you had hair under that hat. I always thought you were bald, under there." "WHAT?" shrieks Adie.
Vi giggles. "Well..." says Oar, swallowing hard, "Let's go. We don't want to be late." "Yes." nods Adie, taking Oar's hand,
"Let's have some fun at the ball!"
Vi: "Are you okay, Oar? I never saw that look on your face before." (;^_^)
Oar: "Uh, huh..." (*_*)
Vi: "Oh, my... Adie, I think he likes your new look." (^_^)
Adie: "Really?" (*^_^*)
Oar: (*_*)
Adie: "Well... You won't see it again, until the ball." (;^_^)
Oar: "Huh?" (o_O)
Adie: "It will take us a while to get to Fox Arbor, silly! This is just a
preview." (^_-)
With a wave of her staff, Adie makes the fancy clothes disappear. Our friends now head for Fox Arbor and,
within three days of traveling, they make it there on time for the dance. "Wow!" frowns Oar, "I can't believe
we made it..." Adie quickly does her magic spell, getting her friends ready. "It's easy to travel far," nods Vi,
"At a decent amount of time, when we don't have to stop for quests." "Or..." grins Adie, "Maybe it's because Oar and I
had to struggle to keep up with the eager Vi!"
"Yeah..." frowns Oar, "For some unholy reason, you were rushing way too fast to get here." "I-" blushes
Vi, "I just didn't want to be late." "Right." grins Adie. "Well," sulks Oar, "We're here, anyway. Let's just get this nightmare
over with." Adie gives him another dark look. "I mean," he says, nervously, "Let's have fun on Vi's big night! Heh..." "That's
better." nods Adie. "Blimey!" yells a voice. Walking towards them was an awestruck Captain Pete, wearing a white uniform.
Captain Pete: "I was certain you wouldn't show, love." (;^_^)
Oar: "We really shouldn't have..." (>_>)
Vi: "Oh? You didn't get another date, did you?" (o_O)
Captain Pete: "Not at all! I was waiting for you, anyway. I'm glad you didn't break my heart." (^_^)
Vi: (*^_^*)
Captain Pete: "And you bought... party crashers." (<_<)
Oar: (;-_-)
Adie: "No, Captain Pete! It's us, Adie and Oar!" (^o^)
Captain Pete: "Bloody hell!" (o_o)
Adie: "It's not going to be a problem, with me and Oar being here, is it?" (;^_^)
Captain Pete: "No! It's just that I didn't recognize you, is all." (^_^)
Oar: "That's not surprising. He wouldn't recognize us in our normal clothes." (-_-)
Adie nudges Oar, frowning. "Well, then, love." bows Captain Pete, "You look wonderful tonight, Vi."
"Thank you," she blushes, "You look nice too." "What was we doing again?" he asks, getting confused. "Attending the ball."
says Oar, annoyed. "Oh right!" smiles Pete, grabbing Vi's arm, "Let's go! Before all the shrimp-puffs are taken!" Adie
giggles and Oar sighs.
Inside the Grand Hall, filled with twinkling lights and streamers, a band plays as many couples dance.
Vi and Captain Pete seem to dance for hours, as Adie and Oar sit at a table, eating shrimp-puffs. "Ah," sighs Adie, watching
the couple, "They really are destined to be together, aren't they?" Oar snorts. "Hey." frowns Adie, "You've been moody all
night. What is wrong with you?" "Well," says Oar, sitting up in his chair. But before he could explain, a giggling Pete and
Vi returns to the table. "That was wonderful!" smiles Vi.
Captain Pete: "I could dance with the lovely Elven-girl, all night!" (^o^)
Oar: "She has a name, you know..." (>_>)
Vi: (o_O)
Captain Pete: "Yes, it's 'Vi', short for Valerie." (^o^)
Adie: (o_o)
Oar: "No, it not!" (>_<)
Captain Pete: "No, but wouldn't it be cool, if it were." (^_-)
Vi: (;^_^)
Oar: "That doesn't make sense!!!" (>_<)
Vi: "Hey... how come you and Adie aren't dancing?" (;^_^)
Oar: "I don't dance." (-_-)
Captain Pete: "Oh? Well, I can teach you!" (^_^)
Adie: (;^_^)
Oar: "No! I can dance. I choose not to." (-_-)
Adie huffs. "Hey!" frowns Pete, "I've been meaning to ask, what's eating you, Oar?" "I've just asked the same
thing." mumbles Adie. "YOU!" barks Oar, pointing at Pete, "That's what's wrong! It's you, Pete! You're all wrong for Vi!" Vi frowns
and Adie gasps. "Hang on," says Pete, "You don't have a thing for Vi too, do you? In love with two girls?" "No!" growls Oar,
"Vi is my friend and I care about her! And I want the best for her and you're not it! Besides, everyone knows I'm in-love with Adie!"
Adie blushes like mad and mumbles, "Well... now they do..."
"Do they, then?" shrugs Pete, "You haven't danced with your lovely girl, not once tonight. You're not
paying any attention to her at all. You're obsessed over Vi and I. Doesn't seem like you care much for Adie, to me. Listen,
I understand you're worried about your friends and of course you want the best for them. But, Vi is a big girl, yeah? She's
not stupid and neither am I. Isn't it safe to say, that only I and Vi can decide what's best for us, mate?"
Adie: "Hear-hear!" (-_-)
Vi: "Uh-huh." (-_-)
Captain Pete: "I know is seems a bit dodgy, me a sea-loving man, setting down and so forth. But... I
really do like Vi. And I think she likes me too... And if you're really worried, mate, I'll make a wager with you. If I should
ever hurt Vi, you can kill me!" (^o^)
Oar: "I will do that anyway!" W('O')W
Vi: (o_o)
Adie: (>_<)
Oar: "...But... I think I know what you're trying to say... You're promising to take care of our Vi. Aren't
you?" (>_>)
Adie: "Yeah... Vi means a lot to us. You must promise to be nice to her, always." (^_^)
Vi: (*^_^*)
Captain Pete: "No, I won't promise that... " (>_>)
Adie: (o_o)
Captain Pete: "Unless Oar dances with Adie." o(^_-)O
Oar: "Fine..." (-_-)
"Alright then!" smiles Pete, "I promise to be nice to Vi, always! Now, can we began having some fun now?"
"Yes," nods Vi, "Let's visit the buffet table, Pete." "Yes, love." he nods and they leave the table. "Hmph," frowns Oar, "I bet
he's already forgotten that promise." "Oar..." whines Adie. "Right." sighs Oar, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to ignore you, Adie.
I'm just worried." "I understand." nods Adie, "But... I don't think you really have to. Captain Pete is a nice guy, you know."
"Maybe." says Oar. "Hey," grins Adie, "Don't forget your promise! Let's dance already!" "Yeah." nods Oar,
grabbing Adie's hand and pulling her onto the dance floor. For the rest of the night, our friends dance, eat shrimp-puffs, and
laughing about little things. By the end of the night, Vi gives Oar a huge hug and whispers, "Thanks for being a good friend."
