What Does "(^_^)" mean?

It's a smile, aka Emoticons, much like the Eastern's ":-)"! Except Japanese
Smileys are read vertically while Eastern Smileys are read horizontally. Japanese smilies sometimes
have ( ) around them like so: (^_^). But somewhere along the line, people tend to shorten the smiley
like so: ^_^ , but it's still all the same. Here are some traditional japanese smileys and their meanings:
