Ed sat down on the edge of Spike’s bed, having just completed her last plushy.
She looked at the happy little scene before her. She had Ein plushy in front
with her mama and papa plushy just behind him. Her Jet plushy setting next to
her papa plushy and her Faye one was by her mama plushy. In the back row were
her Spike plushy and her Eco plushy, and in the middle sat her newly made Ed
plushy. She smiled at the happy little family as a tear ran down her cheek.
She laid down reading over her journal entry, making sure everything was in
place. It had been three weeks since Ed took the Bebop out of Mars orbit,
allowing it to drift off into space...
Ed looked at her plushy, one last time before closing her eyes, drifting off to sleep.
"Sir?" A man donning a space suite entered the room. "We checked the ships records and couldn’t find any I.D. on the girl. Want us to dump the body?" The man blinked as he watched his captain reading thought the last of a journal entry. "Sir?"
"No, we’ll take her back with us. My wife and I will pay for the funeral costs."
"Of course Sir." The man turned and left the room.
"Poor thing." The captain turned the ruffled the girl’s red hair.
"Don’t worry; I’ll make sure that you are never alone again." He stood glancing the arrangement of plushys on the floor before he left.
You’re going to carry that weight.
Alt ending
Ed looked at her plushies one last time before closing her eyes, crying. "Ed is sorry that she couldn’t be the strong girl you wanted her to be papa." She curled up, finding it harder to say awake. "Ed can’t take being alone any more papa. Ed just...can’t." She cried softly, feeling the world slipping away. She heard faint voice calling out to her. "Ed....Eeed....wake up Ed." It was a familiar voice, a voice she remembered some somewhere. "Edward." The voice took on a slightly annoyed tone to it. "Get up Edward." The voice was sterner this time and it sounded like it was in the room with her. "Edward Wong Hau Pepelu Tivrusky the IV!!!" Ed sat up straight, having be brought rudely back into reality. She slowly brought her hand up to face, noticing that her cheek stung, like someone had just slapped her. She got up, staggering off to the bathroom. Ed winched as the light came on, she looked in the mirror seeing what looked like red whelp on her face in the shape of a hand. She compared the size of the whelp with that of her hand wondering how it got there, seeing as her hand was much smaller in size. Ed looked at her face a bit more when she saw something white pass by the door out of the corner of her eye. She leaned out the door, looking around, knowing for a fact that she was the only one left on the ship. Ed started to go back into the bathroom when she saw what looked like the tip of a bird’s wing vanishes around a corner. She walked down the corridor, peering around the corner into the main room.
"Well, looks like you finally got up." Eco smiled at Ed as she slowly walked in.
"Pa...papa?" Ed couldn’t believe that he was here.
"Come and set down Ed, have some tea."
Ed sat down still in disbelief that he was here. She was sure she saw him get killed, and yet here he sat drinking tea. Ed stared at his wings, this was only the seconded time she’s seem him in this form, the fist being when he saved her from an unplanned space walk.
"I’ve been gone for a few days and you go and forget all the manners I taught you."
She blinked, picking up the tea, taking a sip. Ed wanted to hug him, to feel safe and loved in his arms once more but was fearful that this might be nothing more then a hallucination brought on by the pills.
"Drink up Ed; it will help up wake up. You still look a little sleepy."
Ed smiled, taking another sip, ether way she was happy to see her papa one more time.
Ed turned around hearing foot steps coming down the corridor. When she turned back Eco was gone.
"Papa?"
Ed stood, franticly looking around for him, the only thing she found was the plushy she made of him setting where he was.
Hearing the foot step nearing she turned, seeing two men in space suites approaching before she collapsed. The last thing she recalled was them shouting for a medic.
Ed awoke to find her self in a hospital bed.
"Glade to see that you are awake."
She turned her head, seeing a man sitting next to her smiling.
"You are one very lucky little girl. If you hadn’t been up dirking that tea... Well, let’s not think about that."
Ed smiled.
"Oh how rude of me. I’m Ron. And, um, my wife and I were hopping to adopted you, seeing as you have no family and all. That is if, you want us to be your parents."
He stood.
"But you got some time to think it over."
Ron turned to leave but stopped.
"Oh, one more thing."
He picked up a bag and handed it to Ed.
"I’m guessing that these are yours."
Ed opens the bag to find all the plushies she had on the Bebop, all but one, the Ed plushy was missing.
She looked up at Ron.
"Where is the Ed one?"
"I’m sorry, but that was all of them."
She looked at her Eco plushy and spoke in a whisper. "Thank you papa."
Good bye Cowgirl.
((We all know the drill, I don’t own Cowboy Bebop or any of their characters, and if I did you would be reading this in a manga or watching it on TV. The only character I do own is Eco. The plushes where inspired by the comic, pictures, and stories found on http://www.jazzmess.com/scre/comic.htm))
